My Background
Hey there! My name is Amber. I am a licensed EL and Spanish Language teacher. I’ve been in education for over 10 years.
While volunteering in Adult Basic Education catapulted me down this path, after getting my Masters in Teaching English as a Second Language, I taught middle school EL for 9 years.
Within that time frame and after, I’ve subbed and tutored students in high school and college classes as well.
This year, I’m venturing into Elementary. I’ll get to share a school with my own children and work with smaller groups of students 1 on 1! How exciting is that?!
I

Diversify
My goal is to bring the knowledge I’ve gained from my diverse teaching experience – multiple grade levels, content areas, language backgrounds, learning styles, etc. – into the resources I create.
The one constant in this scenario is that my students always needed more support. This meant that I got to do what I love, adjusting and designing resources that fit THEIR SPECIFIC NEEDS!
Their diversity, whether it was cultural background, home languages, learning styles, support needs, or more, was what made teaching beautiful and exciting (though admittedly sometimes overwhelming).
What you can expect
If I’m anything, its honest. My goal is to share my experience and my skills with as much authenticity as possible.
I believe that the first step to creating a safe and productive learning space is taking care of OURSELVES as individuals. When we know how to do this, then we are better equipped to handle the ups and downs of our classroom spaces.
Therefore, as I continue to learn to navigate my new “content area”, you will hear me share about my experience IN and OUT of the classroom.
I specifically want to speak about teacher burnout and how to address it. Each month at least one of my blog posts will dive more deeply into the topic.
My hope is that I can provide strategies that help teachers stay doing the job they love – teaching!

One lesson at a time
As you come along this journey with me, you’ll recognize that my approach centers on building connections with students, creating diverse and inclusive lessons, and utilizing resources and routines that focus on ease and flexibility.
Additionally, I want my resources to provide room for reuse and growth. That means that when you purchase one of my resources, it isn’t a one-time, one-way use item. It can grow and expand with the skills and needs of you and your classroom.
With all that being said, if you’re looking to create a safe, active classroom space that doesn’t leave you scrambling for time or for peace, then I’m your girl. Let’s work together to tackle this context one lesson at a time!
